Photography, Repetition & the Grid

Project one

Photography, Repetition & the Grid

With the guidelines that I was given it made it difficult to be very creative however I think that was the point of the assignment. The grid however did help me stay organized. I stayed within the lines and cleaned all of the glue off of the pictures on the finished project. Originally I had many more pictures to add to the Bristol board but when taking the entire visual plane into consideration I could not make connections without going into the next image. Everything is measured to exact and I made no emphasis on the subject matter however you can tell the “what” of the picture. I took pictures of random people at Westchester Community College all in similar poses. Then I cut the pictures in half and moved around the photos to see which ones looked good together. The form created by placing two like images together made it seem almost as if it is one person rather than two images next to each other. If I were to redo this project I probably would have picked something different to photograph although I do like how mine is now.
